Pandemic Portrait Series

Family Snapshot.

In 2021, at the height of the covid 19 pandemic I began a series of engravings of people wearing facemarks. Unable to gain access to a glassblowing studio to make paperweights to engrave on I bought a large number of glass magnifying glasses from a 100yen shop worked on those instead. The series known as Pandemic Portraits grew to be 46 in number. Three engravings from that series, created in 2022 were of a daughter, mother and father. Within the larger series they became known as "Family Snapshot". In 2023, I went back to that same family and engraved them again, this time without masks. Here then is "Family Snapshot 2023", below are the original engravings from the Pandemic Portrait series.
